One of the collections that came out while I was in the United States that I was really really excited about, was the Gigi Hadid x Maybelline New York collection. I like Maybelline New York for their makeup (my forever favorite drugstore mascara and concealer are from MNY) and Gigi Hadid is basically my girl crush.
However, when the first product of her collection came out, I was so disappointed. The Jetsetter Palette was the first to came out and it was expensive and not really functional (speaking of how small the pans of the face products are). I didn’t even had to think about not buying it. Luckily, there was so much more to come in her collection and when I saw all those products, I was over the moon!
So the Gigi Hadid x Maybelline NY collection is divided in two small themes: East Coast Glam and West Coast Glow. With me staying at the West Coast for the first time in my life, it couldn’t be more on point for me.
The East Coast Glam part is about a chique look with nude lips and cate eyes. The West Coast Glow collection is about a bronzed and glowing look with a fierce red lip.
I picked up a few products from the collection at Ulta (not looking at the theme though, just the products that spoke to me) and I can’t wait to show it to you!
I really love the packaging and the designs of this collection. It is a beige matte packaging with white, holopgrahic and gold details. It looks really classy to me!
The first product I got from the collection is the Gigi Hadid Matte Lipstick in Mccall.
The lipstick looks brown/pinkish but if I swatch it, it looks way more pink (which is good because I choose this color because it looked like the most pinkish color from the nudes).
Wearing the lipstick shows me that the pink disappears when I put it on my lips and it’s a really nude nude. I like it though!
The lipstick is really creamy, making it comfortable to wear. I can see myself wearing this color more if I want a lippie to finish my look but nothing to take the focus away from my eyelook.
The second product I bought is the Gigi Hadid version of my favorite Maybelline mascara: the Lash Sensational mascara. Besides the packaging there’s nothing different, as you can see on the next pictures.
It looks like the Gigi Hadid wand has longer bristles, but that is because the normal one has been used a lot and is full of mascara.
Also, unfortunately the Gigi Hadid one only came in regular and not in waterproof, which I prefer to use.
The last product is the one I got most excited about. It’s a Gigi Hadid version of the City Palette mini’s. It’s the Gigi Hadid Eyeshadow Palette in Warm. I love how there are three beautiful shimmery shades, since these three are the kind of colors I basically always go for as an all-over lid shade.
The color on the left is the Mccall swatch. The shimmery colors of the palette are really creamy and pigmented well enough. It’s the kind of eyeshadow that is alright but if you want some intensity, a little Mac Fix+ on your brush is needed.
The matte colors are okay: their pigmentation is not that strong but it’s there and it will show up nicely. The shadows do feel chalky and you can already see on the swatches of the darkest color that it will have a lot of fall out (see the top of the swatch).
Like expected, the matte colors had a lot of fall out while working with them. It’s not horrible because you can easily wipe it away, but a lot less fall out is always preferable. The matte shadows were actually really easy to build up but it would not get a ‘screaming’ show up of color on my eyes. And as I said, the shimmery colors worked best with a little bit of Fix+ on the brush.
This is the final look I made using the lipstick, mascara and eyeshadow palette. I like the palette because of how small and practical it is, because of the color selection (I always need those kind of shimmers) and because of the nice price ($14,99). However, I don’t need that you need this palette out of the collection. I believe there are budgetbrands that make better palettes with better pigmentation! (Like Makeup Revolution).
The mascara is as good as any Maybelline New York mascara and the lipstick is really nice to wear, so those two I recommend to you.
For the Dutchies: this collection is not yet available in our drugstores but I believe it will be at some point, because a Dutch Youtuber was invited to the launch of this collection as a Maybelline girl. Also, you can already purchase it through Bol.com if you search for it! 🙂
So pretty! ❤ ❤
