How to start the cosmetics year with a LE collection that everybody wants, so we can make sure everyones year starts with some Mac Cosmetics love? Yup, make a collection with LE packaging, adorable names and make it all pastel pink and yellow! Mac Cosmetics knows how to get peoples attention… Well at least they got my attention!

I am talking about the Mac Cosmetics Lunar New Year collection. At first, information wasn’t that clear because it looked like the collection was only going to be sold in Asia, but luckily that was not true! This week the collection launched and online it’s already sold out everywhere (in the US) and there are only a few stores left with stock. Usually, Mac Cosmetics collection get released in the USA first and the Netherlands has to wait for it, but for some reason, I was already able to get my hands on the lipstick I was eyeing in this collection. So me happy, obviously! For readers from the UK: I’ve read somewhere that the products will launch on the 25th in the UK!

I almost forgot how screensaver worthy (yes, it’s on my phone as a background) the promotion pictures of Mac Cosmetics usually are. I mean, look at this! It makes me really happy and I can feel the spring vibes rising! Fun fact that has nothing to do with make-up: the Japanese Cherry Tree is my favorite tree (or nature-thingie in general) when it has it’s beautiful blossom.

The Lunar New Year collection consists five lipsticks, a blush duo and the beautiful eyeshadow palette shown in the picture above. I would’ve totally bought it if I had more budget for beauty!

The lipstick colors are:
‘Peachy New Year’, a soft peach with gold pearl (satin finish);
‘Pure Happiness’, a sheer light pink (cremesheen finish);
‘Prosperity’, a bright pink coral (matte finish);
‘Good Health’, a muted peach nude (satin finish);
‘To Luck!’, a soft dusty rose (matte finish).

For now I stuck with the lipstick in ‘Good Health’. I checked out some swatches and when I saw online that there was only 1 ‘Good Health’ lipstick left, I knew it was supposed to be mine :).

I love the vibes of the packaging. It’s matte and with pastel colors and shiny gold details. ‘Good Health’ is a lipstick with satin finish and is described as a ‘muted peachy nude’. How it looked as a product in the tube, makes me describe it more as a pinky nude or mauve nude though. However, when I swatch the color and especially when I put it on my lips, the lipstick truly lives up to the description.

I looooove this color! Because of the peachy color it is something I will probably wear way more in spring and summer but with a subtle nude eye-look, I love it for every season really.

Other products used on my face are: Tarte Shape Tape in ‘light’, Maybelline Fit Me concealer in ’15’, Benefit Foolproof Brow Powder in ‘1’, Rimmel Match Perfection Silky Loose Face Powder in ‘001 Transparent’, Benefit Rockateur blush, Tarte tartelette Flirt palette, Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in ‘Fluffy’, Wet n Wild megaglow highlight in ‘Precious Petals’ and Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray.

Just like I’m used from Mac Cosmetics lipsticks, the lipstick smells delicious (a little vanilla-ish), the product applies easy, wears comfortable and is really pigmented. For me, a Mac Cosmetics lipstick will never disappoint and it will probably always be my go to lipstick when I throw a lipstick in my bag for on the go, no matter how nice my other lipsticks are.

I’ve made some swatches to compare the color to other Mac lipsticks I have. From left to right you see: ‘Good Health’ – ‘Twig’ – ‘Brave’ (current favorite) – ‘Only You’ (Ellie Goulding collection) – ‘Fanfare’ – ‘Mehr’ (first Mac lippie ever!).
