Besides the two eyeshadow palettes and two highlighter palettes that NYX came out with in their newest Love You So Mochi collection, the collection also consisted a bunch of Powder Puff Lippies. These lippies have a new formula and new applicator, making it extra interesting to try them out!
I already showed you all the awesome goodies I got in my goodiebag at the NYX Swatch Party I went to. I choose five different colors of Powder Puff Lippies because they looked so interesting and I wanted to be able to gift my mom and two friends a color, so we could share the fun!
The colors I choose are (from left to right): Squad Goals, Cool Intentions, Puppy Love, Best Buds and Moody.
The applicator is a little sponge-ish thing and the lippie itself is a squeezable tube. When you want to use the product for the first time you have to squeeze the product into the sponge.
I can tell you that this was very satisfying, haha. You squeeze the product out of the tube into the sponge.
After applying the product to your lips, the product will be more separated over the sponge.
Applying the lipstick with this applicator feels really nice actually. It’s soft and comfortable. It leaves the product without struggle. It also makes sure that the product is applied nicely and evenly. No streaks visible!
The only thing that might not be liked by everyone I think, is that this applicator makes it hard to apply it precisely. I’m not bothered by that at all though because I never apply anything precisely (it’s not in my talentscope, haha). With this sponge the lines get blurred really pretty and even when you go over the lines of your lips, it’s still blurred and nice and it looks like it’s supposed to be like that. It totally fits in the ‘soft’ look the product itself gives as well.
Even in these swatches you can see how soft the product and especially the lines look. It’s a soft matte color with a lot of pigmentation but it looks subtle.
This is a color that’s right up my street! You can see in this picture that the product looks blurred (almost like you already blotted your lips) and for me, that makes the lippies in every color perfect for wearing to work or on any non-party occasion.
So the Powder Puff Lippies are described as a powder lip cream and that’s exactly what it is. When you apply the product, if feels very creamy and like it will glide around during the day. When it dries down, you feel it becoming a little more powdery and matte. It dries down really comfortable and non-drying.
The Powder Puff Lippies do have quite a bit of transfer when eating/drinking/kissing my hand to test it out (haha) but the product is still pigmented enough to be nice and visible on the lips, even after fading a bit. After a lot of fading, it reminds me of a lip tint, because there’s still some color left behind. Also, the fading goes gradually and touching it up is easy and without making it obvious that you applied another layer.
I decided to also keep Moody for myself because it’s a color I like to wear to a party or dinner or something. Everything I said about the formula of Squad Goals, goes for Moody too.
I really love how NYX went for something new and innovative with the formula and applicator of these lippies. The formula is interesting and very comfortable. Even though the lipstick doesn’t stay for a really long time, I like how it fades because that makes sure that your lipstick doesn’t fade funny, leaving you with lips you have to touch up right away. I’m a fan of these lippies!
You can buy the NYX Powder Puff Lippies for $8,50 on their website! In the Netherlands you can get your hands on them in the NYX Stores in Amsterdam and Rotterdam – €9,40 each!
