Becca Royal Glow highlighter

I don’t think anyone missed it: on May 19th Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot and it. was. beautiful! I’ve always liked following the British Royal Family but on the day of the wedding I was a big Royal Family fanatic, haha. It’s also because I adore Meghan Markle and her well known minimalistic make-up looks.

Even more excited I was when I found out that Becca released a new highlighter shade (that’s amazing in general) and it was Royal Wedding themed!! It first launched in the UK, just before the Royal Wedding and it’s called the ‘Royal Glow’ highlighter. Love it! Ofcourse I had to get my hands on that, being a highlighter and a Royal Family lover.

The packaging of the Becca highlighters will always be beautiful so this one is nothing different. The only thing I would’ve liked better different is the color of the outside ‘circle’ of the compact. It’s all the same chrome/silver color and to me personally it would’ve looked better with a Royal blue or red color or something like that.

The highlighter itself is also so so gorgeous! It has a Royal Crown embossed on it. The shade is described as: ‘A warm golden honey infused with pink pearl, this finely milled illuminator lends skin a beautiful, backlit lustre without a trace of tell-tale glitter.’

This description is right on point. In the pan and in a swatch it’s mostly golden honey/bronze, but applied with a brush on my cheekbones it gives a beautiful warm gold/pink glow.

You can see the warm gold glow on my cheekbones, but this picture doesn’t do it justice at all. I make my pictures in day light and it’s been cloudy the past few days so this is all the glow I could capture.

Just like any Becca highlighter, the glow is intense and you just need a tiny bit of product. I was a bit afraid that the warm gold shade would be way to dark for me but after reading a lot of reviews saying that it’s a color for every skin tone, I decided to get it anyway and I’m glad I did. The shade is definitely more dark than I’m used to but it’s still a shade that goes well with my pale skin tone. It will even be more beautiful once I get a tan but it already works right now. I just have to make sure that I blend the highlighter well. The pink pearl glow makes it work for me.

On my lips I’m wearing Mac Mehr (matte lipstick) topped with Becca Liquid Crystal Lip Topper Glow Gloss in Rose Quartz x Seashell.

I also searched my collection for a few look-a-likes and this is what I came up with. From left to right: Becca Royal Glow, Maybelline Master Chrome Molten Gold, Wet ‘n Wild Precious Petals, Smashbox x Vlada Petal Metal Gilded Rose and Wet ‘n Wild Golden Flower Crown.

Wet ‘n Wild Golden Flower Crown is the best dupe for Royal Glow in my collection. It actually comes really close shade wise. Regarding the consistency, Royal Glow is more creamy where Golden Flower Crown is more powdery. The shine of Royal Glow is more intense when swatched, but on the face both are equally as glowy. Royal Glow has a more pinky glow and the color is a tiny bit more dark because of the honey color. Golden Flower Crown is closer to a true gold.

If you are a fan of the Becca pressed highlighters and you are looking to splurge: I would totally recommend the Royal Glow highlighter! It’s a beautiful color that’s not only ‘just’ Limited Edition, but it is also themed around a special day in the history of Royal Weddings :).

The magazine in all the pictures is the Dutch Vogue: the Royal Wedding issue.
