June is my favorite month because it’s my birthday month! I’m turning 23 next Thursday and besides getting presents and treating my friends and family with cake, dinners and lunches, I also like to splurge on some beauty products that I wouldn’t allow myself to randomly splurge on normally.
Once in a while (I think it’s twice a year but don’t quote me on that), Cult Beauty comes out with a goodie bag that you can get when you spend a certain amount of money on their website. After the first goodie bag I ever got from Cult Beauty (Dutch review here) I decided to ‘save’ my wishlist on there until it was time for a new goodie bag.
And boy was that a good idea! This month is also Cult Beauty’s birthday month, they are turning 10. If you’ve been wanting to order on Cult Beauty, now is the time. They are giving away some lovely gifts with your purchase and released several Cult Beauty exclusive products. At the beginning of June they also released a 10th birthday goodie bag which contained 10 full sized (!) Cult favorite products. Of course I had to have it!
The downside of the goodie bag with 10 full sized products is that you had to spend a crazy amount of money to get it with your purchase. I really had to think about it, if the goodie bag was worth it to me. But because I saved my wishlist for a purchase with complimentary goodie bag there were enough products to choose from that I really wanted and I allowed myself to splurge because of my birthday. Treat yo self, right!?
The goodie bag came in the cute 10th birthday make-up bag. It’s actually a pretty big bag so it’s perfect for the ‘longer’ holidays.
The goodie bags contains:
- BECCA Backlight Priming Filter;
- Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm and Cloth;
- Huda Beauty Mauve Obessions;
- Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist;
- The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5;
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in ‘Sun Dipped’;
- ZOEVA Cat Eye Pen;
- Lime Crime Matte Velvetines in ‘Red Velvet’;
- Beautyblender Nude;
- Pixi Glow Tonic.
How amazing is this goodie bag! I’ll explain all my excitement about this bag later in this blog. Let’s take a look at the products I actually paid for to get to the goodie first.
I’m so excited about all of this as well!
- skyn ICELAND Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels;
- The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil;
- Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm;
- RMS Beauty Signature Set Mod Collection;
- COOLA Cucumber Face SPF 30;
- COOLA Makeup Setting spray SPF 30;
- Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in ‘Amazing Grace’;
- ZOEVA Luxe Eye Blender Brush (225) Rose Golden.
Let’s check all the products out by category and chat about them some more.
The RMS Beauty set and the BECCA primer are both products I’ve been wanting to try out for a little while but I always thought were too random and too expensive to ‘just’ buy it. That why I saved the RMS Beauty compact on my wishlist and why I am stoked about it.
When I purchased the Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions palette I couldn’t decide between Coral Obsessions and Mauve Obsessions. I went for Coral because it’s more ‘original’ in my collection but Mauve never left my wishlist. Now I got it for free, yaaay!
A Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick was high on my wishlist as well but again, to expensive for a lipstick to randomly splurge on. I actually wanted either Very Victoria or Pillow Talk but both were sold out, so I went for number three on my wishlist and I’m glad I did. It’s a beautiful color (Amazing Grace) and you will see a review on it soon.
I’ve always had my eye on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits but I decided to spend my money on other highlighters that are not in this huge packaging. However, I still liked having a Glow Kit one day. I wouldn’t have chosen Sun Dipped though if I paid for it because two of the colors are to deep for me as a highlighter (still beautiful on the eyes though). Still happy with it!
The Lime Crime Velvetine and ZOEVA eyeliner are both nice goodie bag products that I will definitely use but I wouldn’t have picked them myself.
The goodie bag was supposed to contain one Beautyblender but I was lucky enough to find two of them in the goodie bag! 🙂 I needed a new make-up sponge anyway and now I also got it stocked up.
Lately I’ve been trying to find the perfect blending brush for the eye looks that I make and this ZOEVA Luxe Eye Blender Brush looks promising.
The last couple of months I’ve been investing a bit in skin care because I want to find out what works for me. Before, I was fine with a simple moisturizer that made my skin feel fresh but now I really want to buy skin care that suits the needs of my skin. I have an oily T-zone and pretty dry and sensitive cheeks.
The Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm is a product that I look forward to trying out. The reviews on Cult Beauty are amazing, it’s one of the best selling products at the shop, and a cleansing balm supposedly works great for taking of excessive oils of your face at the end of the day, because it’s oils on oils.
The Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist is a product that is apparently really popular but I missed the hype on that. It’s supposed to be nourishing for the skin. Not sure if I will get to using this mist a lot because I’m not the biggest fan of the scent. However, I will try it out a couple of times and if I’m still not a big fan of it, I will give it to some one else.
The Pixi Glow Tonic is such a Cult favorite and I like that they added a full size bottle to the goodie bag. I have to admit that I just skipped the whole toning step in my skin care routine when I ran out of my previous bottle of Glow Tonic but now it’s time to start using it again.
These two products were both on my wishlist. The skyn ICELAND Eye Gels because the skin under my eyes can be dry and sensitive and the Nuxe lip balm because after educating myself on lip balms I decided that I had to drop the Vaseline/Purol and find a nourishing lip balm that actually hydrates the lips instead of just coating them.
The Ordinary. is an amazing upcoming skin care brand that is a favorite of many beauty bloggers like Fleur De Force. The Ordinary. believes in layering skin care because one size fits all creams don’t exist. It makes sense if you think about it: every one has a different skin type, different skin concerns and different wishes. With the bottles of The Ordinary you can customize your own skincare routine because every product just contains one or a few ingredients.
I am waiting to also get my hands on the caffeine eye liquid by The Ordinary. and after that you can expect a little review on the products on Weeks of Beauty.
Last but not least: SPF! While educating myself on the matter of skin care, I also learned about the importance of wearing SPF daily. I’ve always known how important protecting your skin from the sun, especially because I have fair skin and I get a sun burn so quickly. The ‘problem’ always used to be that SPF tends to feel so oily and gross on my skin, especially under my make-up. Therefore I didn’t pay much attention to it unless I was actually sunbathing.
These two products by COOLA are supposed to be my solution against the sun burns: a fresh and light organic Cucumber moisturizer with SPF 30 and a Makeup Setting Spray with SPF 30. I’m so excited about both but especially the setting spray because it makes re-applying your SPF so easy! I already added both products to my daily morning routine.
