New Luxury Lipsticks – Charlotte Tilbury, YSL, Tom Ford, Too Faced, Mac

Now that my interest in complexion base products (primers, powder and concealers) and skin care has grown so much, my obsessions for lipsticks has been reduced as well. That’s completely fine with me though, because I had no place left to display all my lipsticks, haha. The past couple of months I did purchase some beautiful high end lipsticks though and I saved them to write a joint blog about all of them.

Let’s take a look at them beauties!

The lipsticks I will be talking about today are (from left to right): Too Faced Peach Kiss Lipstick in Got Peach?, Tom Ford Beauty Ultra Rich Lip Color in Marisa, Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-in-Balm in 12 Try Me Berry, Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Amazing Grace and Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Lady-Be-Good.

I know that Too Faced and Mac are not considered luxury brands buttt since were talking new lipsticks and those two are also definitely not drugstore, I’m going to include them.

Too Faced Got Peach?, Tom Ford Marisa, YSL Try Me Berry, Charlotte Tilbury Amazing Grace and Mac Lady-Be-Good.

Swatches from left to right: Too Faced Got Peach?, Tom Ford Marisa, YSL Try Me Berry, Charlotte Tilbury Amazing Grace and Mac Lady-Be-Good.

The Too Faced and Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks are matte, both the Tom Ford and the YSL lippies have a more sheer, creme finish (YSL is a lipbalm) and the Mac lipstick is a matte liquid lipstick.

The Too Faced Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick in Got Peach? was released with the whole peaches and cream collection. Just like all the other products in the collection, this lipstick smells like peaches. It is a pretty strong and kind of chemical smell so keep that in mind when you are sensitive to smells.

I love how luxury and special the packaging is with the gold details and the color on top of the lipstick. Also, extra points for the peaches that are engraved in the lipstick itself.

The lipstick is creamy and comfortable to wear. The pigmentation and coverage is amazing! It applies really easy and you only need one swipe for good coverage. Even though the finish is (semi) matte, the lipstick still feels creamy and it also moves around a tiny bit.

I love how special this color is. To me it’s a mixture between caramel and brick. Considering I only purchased this lipstick because I needed to spend some more to get freebies at Too Faced, I’m so glad I discovered this color. It’s special and looks good on me, if I say so myself.

I have mixed feelings about the Tom Ford Beauty Ultra Rich Lip Color in Marisa. I love the packaging of the lipstick but this guy is actually a tiny lipstick with just 0.07 oz for $36!!! Soooo expensive (the Too Faced lipstick is $21 for 0,14 oz). But that’s why I bought this little one because I wanted to give the Tom Ford lipsticks a try before buying a regular size.

The lipstick is indeed very creamy and moisturizing. It is comfortable to wear and almost feels like a lip balm.

I am very disappointed though in the color payoff and coverage. I get that it doesn’t have the same coverage as the most matte lipsticks, but I would say the lipstick is actually sheer. I don’t look for that in a lipstick. It might just be this light color of course but I know that this less pigmentation and coverage is not worth the crazy amount of money to me.

I still use this lipstick when I just want a little wash of creamy color on the lips, but that’s what I usually use a lip balm for that less expensive in most cases!

Next up is the Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-in-Balm in 12 Try Me Berry. I have to admit: I just bought it for the most gorgeous packaging ever. How luxurious does this look?! It looks gorgeous on my vanity and I feel very wealthy when I’m grabbing it out of my bag to re-apply, when in public haha.

The pigmentation for a lip balm is actually pretty good. I only need to apply a little bit to give my lips a touch of color. The lip balm feel comfortable, doesn’t wear off too soon and is also moisturizing.

The only downside with this little guy for me though is also a reason for me not to buy it again: the smell. I’m not sure what the smell is supposed to be, something fresh and fruity maybe? But anyway, the smell is not for me. I got over it because I love the packaging and also love the lip balm itself, but I won’t be repurchasing/picking up another color.

I got this Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Lady-Be-Good from my mom because the color wasn’t her favorite. Depending on how my make-up is that day, this color can be really nice as a soft summer color.

The application is easy and the pigmentation is good. The product covers well and dries pretty fast. The product does get dry and therefor it’s not my favorite matte liquid lipstick, but it’s not too uncomfortable if you hydrate your lips before applying well with a lip balm. The lipstick stays on well, but when it wears of, it does get a bit weird looking at the lines of my lips.

Last up is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Amazing Grace. The matte revolution lipsticks have been on my wishlist for quite a time now but they are just not cheap, so I hold of from it for a while until Cult Beauty offered an amazing goodie bag with their order.

I also have Very Victoria and Pillow Talk on my wishlist and I will be buying them in the future, because I really like this lipstick.

Pigmentation and coverage are really good. With just one swipe the lips are fully covered. For some reason, this lipstick and this color make my lips more full.

I love how this lipstick is matte (not extreme but medium) and still looks bright and creamy. It also feels comfortable and moisturizing. The thing I was most amazed by though is how freakin’ well this lipstick stays in place. I eat, drank and actually brushed my teeth with this lipstick on and afterwards I could still get out the door without reapplying. I kid you not!

My beloved Mac Cosmetics matte and satin lipsticks have to share their favorite spot from now on, because I adore this Charlotte Tilbury lipstick (and color). I totally get why this lipstick is so popular. Oh and also, the gorgeous rose gold packaging looks amazing on the vanity.

I’m waiting for my birthday discount from Cult Beauty to purchase another color of the lipstick :).

What is your favorite luxury lipstick?
