You guys… I’m in love. With the newest Dominique Cosmetics eyeshadow palette! It’s such an amazing palette and it might be the best palette I’ve ever tried! I’m just going to keep this intro short because you might as well just see it for yourself!
First of all: the sleeve and the palette design are so gorgeous and on point with the whole Lemonade theme. Pink and yellow watercolor: it’s a yes from me! Fun fact: my room as a child was yellow themed and my current room is pink themed, so you can imagine that this is totally up my street, design wise.
The palette is actually pretty large for ‘just’ ten shades, but the palette is still filled really well because the pans are pretty big as well. The palette is sturdy and sleek. The mirror inside is big and clear. The packaging in total is of really good quality, making it a luxurious palette when just looking at the palette and feeling it.
Color scheme wise, I was a little hesitant at first. I love how the color scheme looks but the shades are not the shades I use daily so I wasn’t sure if it would be worth my money. So my first decision was to skip on this palette and save my money for another exciting launch. However, the internet is filled with so many tutorial’s of beautiful looks with this video that I was convinced: let’s give it a go!
I’m so glad that I purchased it anyway because it turns out it really inspires me to make more colorful and ‘original’ looks. Instead of the good ol’ mauves, pink, browns and golds, I’m combining safe with colors or I’m just using colors. I’m loving it!
These. Shades. Swatch. So. Freakin. Well!!! Look at this! The shades are creamy and smooth but the real wow factor came from the pigmentation. I mean, do you see Sweet Tea!? (the orange-y shade). That coverage!
At first the color scheme looks a bit all over the place but when I started making eye looks, I got so inspired to combine unexpected colors and it worked out lovely.
Lemon Soda, Pink Lemonade, Peach and Cucumber are beautiful shimmery shades, more pastel like shades. Nude Tea, Mango, Sweet Tea and Chai Tea are the matte shades in this palette. Strawberry and Blueberry Fizz are also shimmery but they contain silver glitter specs that are more chunky than the glitter in the other shimmer shades.
The only shades that are not as buttery smooth as the others, are Blueberry Fizz (a bit chunky I guess because of the glitters) and Chai Tea (probably a hard color because of the intense dark pigmentation). How ever, both shades are still incredibly good in quality and the chunkiness can be blended very well so it’s not a big deal at all (at least not for me), I just wanted to let you know.
Since I got so inspired with these colors I went for a cute color combo today on the eyes. It’s a really simple look, but it looks so summery. I used Nude Tea as a transition color, Sweet Tea in the crease and I packed Cucumber on the lid.
For this look (pretty happy about how it turned out!) I used Mango as a (high) transition shade, Sweet Tea low in the crease and I packed Blueberry Fizz on the lid. I also added a little bit of Lemon Soda in the inner corner. After making this look I was feeling like it looked like something I knew (a brand logo or movie character) and it turned out it made Kevin from the movie Up into an eye look hahaha).
I did experience some fall out with Cucumber and Blueberry Fizz but that was probably because I packed the shades so ‘thick’ on the lids. I was able to wipe the fall out away easily. The shimmer shades work fine with a flat synthetic brush but to get the real color pay-off and intense shimmer, I like to wet my brush first with some Mac Fix+.
I’m so glad it did buy this palette in the end. It’s a gorgeous, high quality and original palette. Dominique Cosmetics also has the Latte Palette in their collection but I’m not going to pick that one up, since those colors I have in my collection already for sure.
