Essence 01 jingle all the way eyeshadow palette (Blogmas Day 9)

Welcome to Blogmas Day 9! This Christmas it’s not only the high end brands that are doing it right when it comes to Holiday releases but there are also a lot of great products and collection to find at the drugstore. Today we are taking a peek at the eyeshadow palette from the ho! ho! ho! Christmas collection by Essence.

This is what the Christmas Collection consists of. I think most of the products are pretty ‘childish’ for my taste. Still cute but not specifically good value for your money or original.

The eyeshadow palette and the iridescent powder highlighter however, are the product that I was curious about because Essence happens to make great highlighters and eyeshadow palettes once a while!

I picked up both the highlighter and the eyeshadow palette. Let’s check the eyeshadow palette out!

I am not very fond of the exterior cardboard packaging. It looks and feels very cheap. However, I do wanna say that if a product is great and the packaging cheap so the price can stay low, I would not mind for a bit!

The inside of the packaging is simple and sleek. The black makes the gorgeous colors pop out in just the right way. Y’all know how much I love my berries, pinks and golds. This palette has it all!

I love that Essence didn’t stop at the ‘basic’ mattes and shimmers: they also added a pressed glitter. At the blurred picture you can see all the different colors that are in the glitter. All these colors go very well with the other shades of the palette.

Essence what’s up! Gosh, look at these swatches! I was not expecting that after seeing the whole collection and judging the exterior packaging.

The shimmers are wonderful: very pigmented, very creamy and the shimmer is intense. Most of the shimmers are metallic shimmers because of how shiny they are.

The mattes are also good but not as extremely amazing. The mattes tend to be a bit chunky and they need some building up before the color shows intense enough. However, they are not powdery or dry, so they are probably great to work with.

The pressed glitter has a good density of glitters. With one swipe, you pick up a lot of glitters. The swatch on my arm took me three swipes to have this coverage going on.

For this look I used 2 in the crease, 5 in the outer corner, 1 in the inner third of my eye lid, 3 all over my eye lid and after applying some glitter glue I pressed 7 on the middle of my eye lid as well. To finish it off, I used 4 in the inner corner of my eye.

The matte shades blended easily and they had enough pigment to still show up after blending. The shimmer shades did not work with a brush, neither with a wet brush. Applied with my fingers they were amazing though and they made me think of the shimmers in the Huda Beauty New Nude palette. Just as intense and shimmery!

The glitters stuck to the glitter glue very well and they gave the look such a shiny, bright and festive twist. The only thing I noticed was that the glitters did transfer to above my eye lid pretty fast, so that did make it look a bit messy.

Overall I am very impressed with this palette. The formula of the shimmers is awesome and of high quality. The mattes and glitter are also not bad and this palette is of great value!

Keeps your eyes peeled on Weeks of Beauty for the review of the Essence Christmas highlighter!
