Full Face of Old Favorites (Blogmas Day 25)

With the couple of days off from work I cleaned out some of my make-up drawers. I threw out some old expired products, gave some hardly used products to friends and I reorganized some of the drawers so that I created some space for my growing skincare collection. While taking this trip down memory lane through all the make-up, I thought it would be so much fun to revisit my old favorite products (the ones I rebought or still have) and create a full face with it! Welcome to Blogmas Day 25! 🙂

These are the products that used to be my favorite products. Some still are in regular use. These are not the products that I loved when I first starting using make-up though, those products have been thrown out a long long time ago.

When I first started getting into make-up, MAC was THE brand of the brands. I believe I told this story once before on Weeks of Beauty but here’s a little story of my first big spend on make-up. It was when I went on a vacation to Orlando, Florida with my family. I saved up lots of money (‘lots’ for someone with a weekend job that pays practically nothing haha) and made a wishlist online. Most products I had no clue of what they were for and I thought that you could create an eyeshadow look with just one brush (well, you can, but it’s not what all those brushes are made for, haha). I went to the MAC counter in a huge shopping mall (before I even knew what on earth Sephora was) and I spend somewhere around $115 on MAC make-up. I bought (I don’t remember every product) an eyeshadow brush (still got that one), Dazzleglass lipgloss in Extra Amps (I was obsessed with the sparkle), an empty quad palette and four single eyeshadows (in fun shades of which I only ever used one shade because I had no clue).

Anyway, MAC was the first brand I spend ‘big’ money on. The MAC Prep + Prime was a product I bought once and never stopped repurchasing. I used to use it as a setting spray but nowadays I use it to wet my brushes and Beautyblender.

For the old favorite concealer I opened up a new one of the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 15. I used to stock up on the concealer when I ordered it, because it wasn’t available in the Netherlands. Now it is though :).

When I wanted to get into loose finishing and setting powders, I searched high and low for one that was more affordable than the Laura Mercier one. Allie Glines recommended the Rimmel Match Perfection one and that was my first loose setting powder!

Last but not least, the first primer I ever used often: Benefit Porefessional! I still use it from time to time just like the Porefessional Pearl primer.

NARS blush in Orgasm! Besides being a Cult favorite, it has been my favorite for a long time as well. I do get back to using it once in a while because it’s such a gorgeous shade and nice formula.

I remember searching the internet for the Tarte Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette. It was so hard to find for customers in the Netherlands and I ended up getting my hands on it via a friend that was able to purchase it abroad. It was the only highlighter I used for a long time. Now that I use it now I still enjoy the shades and the glow but the formula is not the best I’ve got in my collection. It doesn’t melt into the skin like highlighters like Becca Shimmer Skin Perfector Pressed do.

On the eyes I first used Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: an old favorite for a long time. This is the first ever Urban Decay product I knew of and bought. This is the first one I bought (from 2015, wow haha) so I threw it out after using it for this look. I won’t be repurchasing it though, because I’m just as happy with using concealer as an eyeshadow primer.

My favorite eyeshadow for a while was the MAC Pigment in Melon. It was THE shade of shades and I remember getting it for my birthday. Me and my friends all wanted it so bad and we ended up having it all three. It is such a gorgeous shade though, I’ve yet to find a pressed shadow that’s a gorgeous bronze/gold like Melon.

I also used Too Faced Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette on the eyes. It was the first Too Faced palette I purchased and I still love it lots! I don’t use it that often though because I’ve got so many gorgeous palettes to choose from, but I surely enjoyed using it this time. I always recommend this palette when people want to know a good versatile eyeshadow palette.

On the lips I used Maxfactor lipstick in 711 Midnight Mauve. This is the lipstick shade that got me into mauve and berry lipsticks!

For mascara I used one that I am still using regularly: Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Waterproof. I wrote my first review about it (in Dutch) in 2015.

That concludes all the products I used for this Full Face of Old Favorites. This is the look!

I love how this eye look turned out (with MAC Melon on the eye lid). I totally need to use the lipstick more because it’s a gorgeous shade and awesome formula. Very creamy and pigmented.

The only two products that won’t be my favorites now are the Rimmel Setting Powder because it made my under eyes feel pretty dry and the Urban Decay eye primer, like I mentioned before.

Also, don’t you love my sweater? It’s from Primark and it’s giving me summery vibes!

What is your old favorite product that you are still using regularly?
