Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector – Year of the Pig

You know I’m always on the hunt for a new, gorgeous and preferably a unique highlighter. Becca makes the most gorgeous highlighters and I’m always keeping an eye out for their newest launches. You never know when they release a Limited Edition highlighter. I was very excited to see the sneak peek of the Year of the Pig highlighter I’m going to write about today. It’s a Becca highlighter, it’s a shade that will suit my skintone perfectly, it’s has the cutest little pig on it and it’s Limited Edition.

The highlighter launched to celebrate the Lunar New Year: which is the Chinese New Year on February 5th. 2019 is going to be the year of the pig, just like 1995, when I was born making me a Year of the Pig baby. Enough reasons to make sure I got my hands on the highlighter, right? 🙂

The packaging already wins with the holographic colors and the piglet on the front.

The compact is gold which suits perfectly with the Lunar New Year, because it’s a very important color for the New Year (which I don’t know much about, but if you do know, feel free to share it in the comments 🙂 ).

Look at it! How cuuuuute is this! Just like the other Becca Limited Edition highlighters with something printed in the product, I always have a hard time using it much because it will fade the image on the highlighter.

The crown on the Royal Glow highlighter faded quite fast, but luckily this piglet has more staying power. I swatched the highlighter a couple of times lightly and I went in with a highlighter brush not so light handed, and it’s still going strong (after taking these pictures).

The shade of Year of the Pig is described as: ‘A soft, peachy pink with gold and silver pearls.’.
The shade reminds me of the beige/peachy shade of a little piglet! So they nailed that part :).

Just like always, the highlighter is very smooth, pigmented well and works great with both a finger as well as a brush to apply the product.

I made this picture with natural light and today was very cloudy, so the camera did not capture the glow and shade of the highlighter. However, you can see that the highlighter suits my skintone very well since it doesn’t stand out or leave a weird stripe.

I do find that this highlighter is softer in color and glow intensity than what I am used at from Becca. I do not mind that at all though, because it’s still a good and gorgeous highlighter, this one is just extra great to use daily for work.

You do have to keep it in mind though, that this is not the most extreme blinding highlighter that’s out there. However, it is very gorgeous, of great quality and such a collector’s item!

Did you get your hands on this highlighter or any other Lunar New Year beauty launches?
