Cats = the best. Make-up = love. Karl Lagerfeld = awesome. Combine all three of them in an eyeshadow palette and you better know that I’m going to love it! I was actually so lucky that my best friend gifted me this palette for Christmas 2018 and that shows how well she knows me!
Let’s take a look at the most awesome eyeshadow palette ever!
ModelCo and Karl Lagerfeld launched a complete make-up collection together, inspired on Karl himself or his beloved cat (who also shows up in the Karl Lagerfeld clothing line) Choupette. Choupette is an icon on it’s own :).
I can’t get over the design of this palette! It’s on display on my vanity ever since I got it, obviously!
The palette contains 16 nude toned shades, both shimmer and matte, with two pops of color (the burnt orange/brown/copper-ish shade and the burgundy) so you are able to transform your look into an evening look.
At a first glance I see that a couple of the shades look like each other but overall there are a lot of shades to mix and match for several different looks.
When swatching these first shadows I have some mixed feelings. The light shades are not of the greatest quality because they are very light, almost invisible on my fair skin tone, but you can clearly see how they are all a tiny bit different and therefor you can make your perfect nude eye look because there are different undertones in the shades as well.
The matte shades are a bit powdery and it takes some effort to pick up pigmentation.
The gold/bronze shimmers on the first are way creamier, not as powdery and they actually give color intensity in the first swipe.
The last couple of swatches are completely different from the first mattes: the brown/grey matte is way more pigmented and these shimmers are amazing, especially the burnt orange all the way on the right! I’m so impressed, mostly because it’s such a different quality from the mattes.
These shimmers are more creamy, much more pigmented and they show their shade and shimmer way better.
On the eyes you have to work hard to get the pigmentation you want. Not all shades work that well on the eyes, when applied with either a brush or a finger, but when I choose shades that are clearly different, I love the outcome! It’s a soft, pastel look that’s great to make the eyes pop without overdoing the eyeshadow.
So to conclude this: the palette is so cute and such a collectors item! Despite that fact that not all shades show pigmentation upon application on the eyes, you can use this palette for soft, toned down eyeshadow looks.
Did you get your hands on anything from the ModelCo + Karl Lagerfeld collection? What do you think?
Omg how cute!! I love cats 😺
