I always find it quite hard to write a review about a mascara, because even more than with other make-up, the preference for a kind of mascara is completely personal. I for once despise clumpy, spider lashes and I love long, deep black and ‘fanned out’ lashes. I also don’t want my mascara to dry rock hard (making my lashes almost sharp) and I need something that won’t transfer because my eyelids usually get pretty oily during the day. So many demands, haha.
My current favorite mascaras are the Hourglass Caution mascara for the days my eyelids are not going to be oily, Glossier Lash Slick for the basic make-up days and L’Oréal Paradise Extatic Waterproof (called Lash Paradise in most other countries) for all the other days including work, shopping, going out and working out. The latter is the mascara that almost has it all, however it does make my lashes weirdly short and clumpy after being open for a month or two and it works best when I coat my lashes first with some Glossier Lash Slick.
Long story short: I’m still on the hunt for the perfect mascara. Let check out the NARS Climax Mascara and see how great (or not) this one is!
Whenever I am trying out a new mascara, I always like to pick up a travel size when available. Perfect for trying something new and also, after three months of use it’s wise to throw the mascara out anyway.
Downside of the small size in the case of the Climax Mascara though is that the case is quite big and the wand short, so it is hard to grab all of my lashes without poking my eye out or messing up the other lashes with the packaging.
The wand really spoke to me because of the amount of bristles (gives volume and thickness) but not too many, because that can cause clumping.
Now the hardest part: showing what it does with my lashes.
Plus:
- it ‘fans out’ my lashes well;
- adds length;
- ‘deep’ black shade;
- the wand coats the whole lash, not just the ends;
- dries quickly;
- doesn’t smudge.
Minus:
- doesn’t add ‘thickness’ (coats aren’t very thick);
- doesn’t separate all the lashes;
- dries pretty hard, making my lashes feel uncomfortable.
All in all I do like the mascara but I am not wowed at all, so I won’t be buying this mascara again!
Nice post. Also I recently created an Instagram account called @lafashionbubble. I hope you will follow me on Instagram so that we can connect 🙂
